Amad Diallo, who was sent out for taking off his jersey to celebrate a late winner against Liverpool, has said that he forgot about his first yellow card.
After winning Sunday’s FA Cup match between Manchester United and Liverpool, the young player’s joy was cut short.
In the waning seconds of extra time, Diallo’s thrilling goal gave United a 4-3 victory.
After receiving a second yellow card for taking off his shirt in celebration after receiving a booking earlier in the game, the 21-year-old’s happiness was dashed.
Diallo voiced his disappointment at receiving a red card in an interview conducted following the game, claiming he had forgotten about his original booking.
“I forgot the first yellow, so I am very disappointed for that red card.
“But the most important thing for me is to win, and to do it against a big team like Liverpool is a dream… a big, big moment for me,” he also added.
Following Diallo’s goal, Manchester United was drawn to play Championship team Coventry in the FA Cup semi-finals, which are set for April 20.
