My family is not black, according to Kanye West

Divisive American hip-hop artist Kanye West has stated that his family is Indian in origin, refuting popular belief that they are black.

In a widely shared video that was trending on the X platform, the ‘Ye’ singer revealed this.

In addition, West stated, “We are not Black.” That seems good, what say you? N*gga, we aren’t black! We are Indians.

Many of his admirers were taken aback by his disclosure, but some thought he might be correct.

This occurs just a few days after the rapper declared that he was the creator of “every style of music” that has dominated pop culture for the previous 20 years.

He implied that he was the inventor of basement, modern R&B, trap, and drill.

On June 8, 1977, Kanye Omari West was born in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to working as a photojournalist for the Atlanta Journal, his father Ray was politically involved in the Black Panthers and subsequently pursued a career as a Christian psychotherapist.

Donda, West’s mother, was a teacher before going on to become an English professor at Chicago State University and, ultimately, the manager of her son. She passed away in 2007 at the age of 58 from heart illness following cosmetic surgery. West’s loss would have a significant impact on him both personally and artistically.

West first gained recognition in the music business by producing well-known musicians. His 2004 debut album, College Dropout, demonstrated his skills as a rapper, and albums like Late Registration (2005), My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), Yeezus (2013), and Ye (2018) solidified his position as the industry’s top hip-hop artist.

Kanye West, who has won almost two dozen Grammy Awards, is also well-known for his fashion sense, awards show antics, and marriage to Kim Kardashian.

Recently, he revealed that Nigeria will be included in his next tour, which will begin in Toronto, Canada on June 22, 2024, and travel throughout the US until August, when he  will head to Mexico. From there, he will travel through Spain, Egypt, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates before landing in Kenya and Nigeria in December. After leaving Africa, Kanye will travel to Australia in January 2025, and finish the tour in Japan in February.
