Ayo Raphael, a graduate of pharmacology has explained how he started leadership and Business Consulting in 2014 and what it takes you be in his line of business. Enjoy.


STREETCATED: What is your name?
Ayo Raphael: Babatunde Ayo Raphael.
STREETCATED: Where do you school?
Ayo Raphael: Olabisi Onabanjo University.
STREETCATED: What’s your course of study and level?
Ayo Raphael: Graduate of Pharmacology.
STREETCATED: What kind of business do you do?
Ayo Raphael: leadership and Business Consulting… I’m a consultant.
STREETCATED: Why leadership and Business Consulting?
Ayo Raphael: Basically, what my passion drives for… It’s a business of strategic thinking and speaking and I love doing that.
STREETCATED: How did leadership and Business Consulting start?
Ayo Raphael: My love for talking aided my speaking spree and that led to the desire to want to learn more about leadership. After learning a lot from my mentor, I took online courses to broaden my knowledge and then I explored.
STREETCATED: When did you start leadership and Business Consulting?
Ayo Raphael: Since 2014.
STREETCATED: What’s being in a business of human about?
Ayo Raphael: It mainly about Human development and management. As a leadership expert, my basic work is to help people see the better version of themselves and help them attain it…
STREETCATED: How did you become a leadership expert, a speaker, writer and event MC?
Ayo Raphael: Passion drove me into those… I write my opinions about topics, recommendations get me speaking engagements and I have a great sense of humour, that led to the MC thing… That’s literally how I earn capital for my other needs…
STREETCATED: What can you say it’s your drive towards doing all these things?
Ayo Raphael: I want to always be a better version of myself, help others attain that same goal and together help make the world and particularly our country, a better place to live in…
STREETCATED: You started 2014, how were you able to combine your business with school?
Ayo Raphael: Priorities… The right scale of preference.
STREETCATED: Do you have a mentor?
Ayo Raphael: Yes, I do… Aina Oluwamayowa Pema is my mentor.
STREETCATED: What was your first job like?
Ayo Raphael: There’s always a first time… Even as an event MC, the first time was shady… In fact, it was so for every of my field but the truth be told, better is never ending. I kept improving…
STREETCATED: Can you tell us some of the online courses you took?
Ayo Raphael: Leadership redefined, human management studies, etc
STREETCATED: How was the learning process like?
Ayo Raphael: Didn’t even take all that I should, I didn’t have someone to really put me through… I didn’t enjoy all that I should.

STREETCATED: What were the challenges you faced and how did you overcome those challenges?
Ayo Raphael: Not everyone believes in a first timer… I had to speak for free, write free journals, MC events for free, just so I could prove my worth because I believe so much in myself.
STREETCATED: So basically, to be there, you have to do things free first in other to be known?
Ayo Raphael: Yes… Very important, prove your worth and wait for bigger opportunities.


STREETCATED: How do you feel when you tell people you are a leadership and Business Consultant?
Ayo Raphael: Happy… I run an NGO, we hold events, I have met people that are named in my fields, so telling people what I do is fun!!!
STREETCATED: How has been the journey so far?
Ayo Raphael: Knowledge is acquired when there’s a good sense and understanding of circumstances… The journey I’d say has been wisdom filled.
STREETCATED: So, can you tell us where you started from and the events you’ve done?
Ayo Raphael: In my NGO, we basically hold leadership inclined events… For teenagers, youths and enlightenment for everyone. We have held over 20 major events in total.
STREETCATED: How were you able to put it all together?
Ayo Raphael: Understanding. The right scale of preference in the order of priority…
STREETCATED: How did you get money to fund your events?
Ayo Raphael: Savings mostly, contributions from members and very few supports from people…
STREETCATED: How much do you charge for being masters of ceremonies?
Ayo Raphael: It varies… I’d have to be contacted first…
STREETCATED: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Ayo Raphael: I don’t have a dream of my own… My life is inclined in the organization’s vision, that’s my dream… Of which we hope that in the next five years, we want to be in all institutions in Nigeria.
STREETCATED: Do you have organizations that sponsor your events?
Ayo Raphael: We presently don’t have any but we now hope to honour individuals and organizations that want to sponsor, partner or support us.
STREETCATED: Whats your advice to people who wants to do what you do?
Ayo Raphael: It is not where you start but how far you aim that is determined for success… Keep pushing.
