Actress Ini Edo, who is grieving the loss of Junior Pope, blames Nollywood’s system.

Veteran Nigerian actress Ini Edo has expressed frustration with Nollywood’s lack of regulatory institutions following the death of her colleague Junior Pope.

Nigerians were shocked to hear of Junior Pope’s death and entered a state of mourning after multiple attempts to revive him following a drowning mishap.

Speaking now, Ini Edo said that th looke late actor’s passing was not necessary for Nollywood to establish the extensive and crucial regulatory framework necessary to protect an entire production. She highlighted that Junior Pope’s sacrifice had to mean something and demanded that the system be totally restructured with realistic standards that would cover everyone in an emergency.

According to her:

Jnr Pope did not have to sacrifice his life for Nollywood to realize the need for a long and much needed regulatory structure that would safeguard an entire production . Yes .. every one is a producer now and all are guilty of negligence of some sort.. and this has to stop. This is one sacrifice too many and must count for something … The system has to undergo a total overhaul with practical rules and regulations that caters to everyone in cases of emergencies…. I will never understand why the good ones go so soon. Rest on brother … This one cuts really deep”
