Celebrated Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, better known by her stage as Simi, talked about the continual comparisons between her and her spouse, fellow musician Adekunle Gold, in an interview with African Folder magazine.
The gifted singer-songwriter, who has made a name for herself in the music business, shared her thoughts on the subject and called the similarities “somewhat shallow.”
Simi, whose beautiful voice and meaningful lyrics have always won her praise from both fans and critics, said she expected these kinds of comparisons but that they fall short of appreciating the complexity and uniqueness of each artist’s style.
Even though they are partners in life as well as in business, Simi stressed how important it is to acknowledge and value the uniqueness of their talent.
Simi stated in the interview that “the comparisons between me and my husband, although expected, are somewhat shallow.”
