David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian music sensation who recently found himself under fire in an interview when he was compared to Burna Boy and WizKid, two fierce rivals in the Afrobeats genre.
Davido’s reaction created a tangible stir online and sparked conversations on various social media platforms.
The DMW Boss was in the spotlight after a recent appearance on the popular American show Sway’s Universe.
The conversation heated up when he was asked where he stood in relation to Afrobeats legends Big Wiz and Burna as the dominant triumvirate.
The presenter enquired,
“You are the African big 3 alongside Wizkid and Burna Boy. Do you feel like you guys are the big 3 Afrobeats artists on the planet?”
Davido responded with lightning speed, dismissing any idea that he was being compared to other artists and announcing emphatically that he was the only player of significance in the Afrobeats scene.
Davido replied, “I am big me.”
