Narrative
Extremely Conservative English lady Edith Swan and her neighbors start receiving nasty letters with inadvertently funny swear words in them.
Her rowdy, foul-mouthed, Irish immigrant neighbor Rose Gooding is accused of being the culprit.
A nationwide outcry is sparked by the anonymous letters, and a trial follows.
But when the ladies of the town, under the direction of Gladys Moss, the town police officer, start looking into the incident themselves, they start to believe something is wrong and Rose might not be the real culprit after all.
