SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Lagos State Police, has apologized for incorrectly reporting that DJ Switch, a well-known Nigerian disc jockey, had been taken into custody.
On his Twitter account, Hundeyin made it clear that DJ Commissioner Wysei was the individual detained. Following Hundeyin’s confirmation of her detention to Linda Ikeji, the BBC, and TVC, several media outlets issued an apology.
Hundeyin apologized to DJ Switch and acknowledged the trouble that had been brought to these media outlets.
Recall that early on Thursday, rumors circulated that the well-known DJ had been detained and was being brought to the Eti Osa magistrate court to be charged with assault.
He tweeted;
There is a mixup from our end. Arrested person is DJ Commissioner Wysei not DJ Switch.
Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning.
Apologies to DJ Switch too.
