“Everybody Loves Jenifa” marks Funke Akindele’s comeback.

The Jenifa franchise has a spinoff called “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” which will debut in December, according to Nollywood actor and producer Funke Akindele.

On April 24, 2024, a Wednesday, the actress revealed the news via a post on her Instagram page.

Akindele wrote, “Been long you saw Jenifa!!!!”

Everybody Loves Jenifa, the new title, alludes to a possible return to the series’ fundamental components, which have contributed to its success. Akindele is in charge of the creative team, so audiences can expect funny scenarios and the return of well-known characters.

Since its premiere in 2015, the sitcom Jenifa’s Diary has been a popular program on Nigerian television.

In addition to Folarin “Falz” Falana, Lolo, Juliana Olayode, Lota Chukwu, Paschaline Alex Okoli, and the late Aderounmu Adejumoke, the story revolves around the main character, played by Akindele.

Aiyetoro Town (2019), which is situated in Jenifa’s village, and Jenifa on Lockdown (2021) are two of its spin-offs and sequels.

In the first movie of the series, Jenifa (2008), Akindele portrayed Jenifa, a country girl who went to the metropolis in search of wealth.

The film was directed by Muhydeen S. Ayinde. In 2009, the film received nominations for four Africa Movie Academy Awards: Best Nigerian Film, Best Original Soundtrack, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Akindele won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work in this film.
