How I got conned of $70,000 for a Kcee song remix

Kingsley Okonkwo, a.k.a. Kcee, a Nigerian artist, has disclosed how he fell victim to a $70,000 song remix scam.

In an interview with content producer Bae U for his YouTube series “Curiosity Made Me Ask,” the Limpopo hitmaker talked about his music career and how, even after over thirty years at the top, he was still able to stay relevant.

The 44-year-old singer gave an explanation for why he hasn’t released any new remixes of his popular songs, blaming an interaction with an American musician.

Kcee related an example from seven years ago in which he paid an unidentified American musician $70,000 to be included on his song, but the musician breached the agreement.

He also discussed how the American band One Republic got in touch with him and asked to be a part of the remix of their song, Ojapiano.

He emphasized that he didn’t pay One Republic for the remix when Bae U asked, expressing amazement that an American band would contact him to be featured in their song.
